How to run Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light in a window (sort of)

  1. Make sure that the game is set to run in a resolution lower than your monitor’s resolution (choose Setup Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light when launching the game from the Steam client; or, from the game’s main menu, choose HELP & OPTIONS, then GRAPHICS, then DISPLAY MODE SELECTION).
  2. Download DxWnd.
  3. Extract the downloaded archive (which will be called something like v2_05_60_build.rar) to a new folder.
  4. Download GoL3.dxw to somewhere, e.g. the DxWnd folder.

You may also want to download GoL2.dxw or GoL.dxw, older versions of GoL3.dxw. Only use them if GoL3.dxw doesn’t work.

  5. Run dxwnd.exe in the DxWnd folder.
  6. Click the File menu, then Import ..., and choose GoL3.dxw.
  7. Click the newly added Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light entry, then the File menu, then Run.

If nothing happens, you may have the game installed in a non-default location. Click the Edit menu, then Modify, and adjust Path to the correct value. On this screen, you can also change where the game window will appear by adjusting X and Y or selecting Desktop center.
